Valentijn Driessen and Mike Verweij are annoyed by the massive media attention for thirteen-year-old Amin, who entered the field on Saturday during the international match between the Netherlands and Montenegro (4-0). The young football fan, who took a selfie with Memphis Depay, was then invited for interviews with the Jeugdjournaal, Humberto and Radio 538. Verweij and Driessen hope for a serious punishment for Amin.

“This morning at Radio 538, yesterday at Humberto: you would almost hope that the kid really just gets 15,000 euros fine,” opens Verweij. The journalist admits to being annoyed by the media attention for Amin. “If you raise this kid on the shield, there will soon be a hundred boys on the field. It’s just about nothing.” The club watcher of Ajax fears that there will be ‘an extra row of stewards’ in the Johan Cruijff ArenA on Tuesday evening during the duel between the the Dutch and Turkey, after the incident in the Philips Stadium.

“When I was young, there were stadium fences in De Meer with barbed wire, high nets behind the goals… It was terrible to watch football there. Now the stadiums are fantastic, but if this kind of thing happens every game, we’ll be there soon again in stadiums with large fences. And rightly so. Keep those children with you,” says Verweij. Driessen believes that Amin and his mother should be given ‘no podium’ and was annoyed by a statement made by the mother during the interview with Humberto.

“If you’re going to give these kind of people a stage…”, the football chief sighs. “The mother says at the end that he has had ‘the day of his life’. Come on, the kid may still be innocent, but soon someone who is not innocent will come and the security will be denounced. Then there will be fences, or canals, or whatever. You just have to put a limit to this. I really don’t want this to be allowed.
