Valencia has reached the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey. The team of coach Gennaro Gattuso won without any problems against Sporting Gijón on Wednesday evening: 0-4. Justin Kluivert, who started in the base, scored the 0-2. Later in the game, Samuel Lino was also accurate, while Edinson Cavani scored twice against the number fifteen of the Segunda División.

Valencia, who are currently in a disappointing twelfth place in LaLiga, opened the score after ten minutes through Cavani. After a combination between Kluivert and former PSV player Toni Lato, the ball could still be tapped away by a defender of the home team. However, the ball landed at Cavani’s feet, after which the Uruguayan finished 0-1. More than ten minutes later, Kluivert was sent deep from his own half. After an impressive sprint with the ball at his feet, he came face to face with goalkeeper Diego Mariño. He managed to outwit the born Zaandammer with a nice lob, doubling the score.

Before the break it also became 0-3, and again Cavani was on the score sheet. The striker got the ball on the right side of the field, cut out a defender and curled the ball nicely into the far corner. After more than an hour of play, Cavani was substituted, and from the bench he saw that Lino made it 0-4. The Brazilian attacker got the ball in front of an open goal from Hugo Duro and put the final score on the board.
