UEFA has appointed Björn Kuipers as referee for the return of the quarter-final in the Champions League between Liverpool and Real Madrid, the KNVB reports on Monday. The game is scheduled for Wednesday and will be played at Anfield. Kuipers is assisted in Liverpool by his permanent assistant referees Sander van Roekel and Erwin Zeinstra.

Pol van Boekel acts as VAR on Wednesday evening from 9 p.m., while Dennis Higler has been appointed as his assistant. Liverpool is facing a difficult task on their own field. To reach the semifinals of the billion dollar ball, the team of manager Jürgen Klopp must make up for a 3-1 defeat.

Last Tuesday, Real Madrid was too strong for those figures the Reds. The Royal won the game in the Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano by two goals from Vinícius Júnior and one from Marco Asensio. Mohamed Salah signed for the English goal.
