UEFA has reached an agreement with nine clubs on the dissolution of the Super League. As a result, the elite competition is definitely off the track. Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, Atlético Madrid, AC Milan and Internazionale have agreed with UEFA. The other three clubs, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus, are not involved and may be punished more severely.

Nine clubs join in and after enormous commotion they will cancel the Super League for good. The six English clubs plus Atlético, Milan and Inter are depositing fifteen million euros in a fund that will benefit the development of youth football in Europe. In addition, five percent of the prize money collected this season in the Champions League and Europa League is withheld. Furthermore, the clubs have agreed to a fine of 100 million euros per organization for new participation in such an unauthorized competition.

Only three clubs, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus, failed to reach an agreement; a more severe punishment hangs over them. According to ESPN UEFA is considering excluding the three dissonances from European football for two years. UEFA is currently not making any statements about the possible sanctions for the three clubs. “They will have to deal with UEFA later,” reads the threatening statement of Aleksander Ceferin, the president of the union.

Ceferin is happy with the agreement with the nine other Super League clubs. “These clubs have quickly recognized their mistake and committed themselves to European football,” said the UEFA president. The announced measures are significant, but none of the financial sanctions benefit UEFA. The money will be fully invested in youth football in local communities across Europe. “
