The difficult marriage between Eden Hazard and Real Madrid may end in January, reports the British branch of ESPN. Despite his mediocre performance in recent years, the thirty-year-old attacker is still good in the market in the Premier League, it sounds like. Chelsea and Newcastle United are among the clubs that want to sign Hazard in the winter transfer window.

Hazard stayed in on Sunday el Classico against Barcelona (1-2 win) on the bench, after which Carlo Ancelotti spoke telling words about the wing striker. “His problem at the moment is that Hazard has a coach who prefers other players, which can happen with a team like this,” said the Real Madrid coach, referring at least to Vinicius Junior. Although Ancelotti also spoke encouragingly about Hazard, a departure of the Belgian from the Spanish capital is obvious.

Real Madrid paid no less than 100 million euros for Hazard in the summer of 2019, but have not had much fun with the Belgian since then. Hazard has had to deal with multiple injuries during his time in Spain, as a result of which he has had to miss almost 60 matches. According to ESPN Real hopes to be able to collect an amount of fifty million euros for Hazard during the winter break, who is fixed until mid-2024.

The Royal can use the money well, because the club wants to bring in two top reinforcements next summer. The intention is, as is known, to sign Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer, after Paris Saint-Germain declined several offers from Real last summer. The Spanish superpower hopes to complete its dream vanguard with Erling Braut Haaland, who can leave Borussia Dortmund for a limited amount of 75 million euros. For that, Real will have to deal with almost the entire European top, because Haaland has the clubs to sort out.

Hazard played seven seasons for Chelsea before the left striker moved to Real in 2019. The Blues are now seriously considering bringing Hazard back and will probably only have to pay half of the amount received for the attacker two years ago. For Newcastle United, which recently came into the hands of a wealthy Saudi Arabian investment fund, Hazard would be an absolute dream booster. ESPN states that there is also interest from other unnamed Premier League clubs.
