Latest update:

Couhaib Driouech is not leaving for PSV after all. After the arrival of CJ Egan-Riley, Eindhoven residents report via the official social media channels that there will be no more incoming or outgoing transfers. Excelsior refused to give the green light for the wing attacker's medical examination, writes Rik Elfrink of the Eindhovens Dagblad.

“With the transfer of CJ Egan-Riley, the transfer window is over for PSV. Tomorrow we look ahead to the match against Ajax and look back on the past transfer period,” the club writes. X.

This means that Driouech's arrival is ruled out. The wing attacker was already in Eindhoven, but the transfer was canceled at the last minute. “PSV puts an end to Driouech. A blow for the player especially,” writes Elfrink X. The wing attacker will therefore (out of necessity) remain in Kralingen.

“The club has put an end to negotiations with Excelsior, after that club refused to approve a medical examination in Eindhoven,” Elfrink says. “The stumbling block was always that Excelsior wanted a replacement for Driouech and failed to find one. The Rotterdam team is therefore now missing out on the amount.”

Driouech and his agent still drove to Eindhoven, hoping that Excelsior would still give the green light for the wing attacker's transfer. That turned out to be a vain hope.

According to Jeroen Kapteijns from The Telegraph However, the fork inserts into the handle differently. According to him, Excelsior would have tried to cooperate in a transfer, but they felt forced to say 'no', as they could not attract a replacement in time.

“All parties did everything they could to make this transfer possible. Unfortunately, that was not successful,” agent Anass El Ghouche is quoted by Kapteijns.

And for a long time it didn't seem like that. A heated battle has been raging between PSV and Feyenoord for the wing attacker's signature for days. Earlier on Deadline Day, Feyenoord would have matched PSV's bid worth more than four million euros.

A few hours later, the Rotterdammers pulled the plug on the negotiations. And PSV is now also putting the arrival of Driouech out of its mind. When the club photographer arrived, a transfer seemed like a matter of time, but it probably came for CJ Egan-Riley.
