Nordin Amrabat will be officially clubless from Wednesday and is looking for a new employer. The 34-year-old attacker has failed to reach an agreement with his current club from Saudi Arabia, Al-Nasr Riad, where he had been under contract since July 2018. Guest in the program European Football Talk from ESPN he expresses his wish to start playing football again soon and mentions Spain as his preferred destination.

“As of today I am officially unemployed, so anyone can call me,” Amrabat said in the talk show. “It’s kind of crazy because it’s the first time in my life that I’m unemployed and don’t have a club. But I don’t worry, because things are already playing in the background. I am very relaxed about it. I can make a number of choices and I’m still in top shape.”

“I would prefer to go to Spain, or there has to be a crazy offer from the Middle East,” continues the winger. “I’m at a point where I see what’s coming my way. If there is a big difference financially with a European club, then the Middle East is an option. But I love Spain. I played there, I have a good reputation there and most of the interest also comes from Spain,” said Amrabat, who indicates that he is still in talks with his current employer.

“What happens if a club from the Eredivisie comes for me? It depends on which club it would be, but in principle that is not my preference.” Amrabat ignores the suggestion of presenter Jan Joost van Gangelen to start at FC Utrecht. “I just read that Eljero Elia has fallen out of favor there. In addition, they already have four wingers there, so I’m not aiming for FC Utrecht,” said Amrabat, who ends the conversation with a wink. “Feyenoord? If Steven Berghuis leaves, why not?”
