Gyrano Kerk seems to be on its way to the exit at FC Utrecht. The lightning-fast attacker has the clubs to choose and everything indicates that a departure from the Eredivisie is imminent. There would be three serious candidates for him by now. Hellas Verona and Cagliari, among others, are interested in his arrival and have already made serious bids in Utrecht.

According to The Telegraph the bids are not yet to the liking of FC Utrecht. The club is in a luxury position, as the contract of the 24-year-old winger continues for another three years. Only with an offer that cannot be refused will technical director Jordy Zuidam agree to a departure. According to the newspaper, that amount is expected to be around ten million euros.

Trainer John van den Brom would like to keep Kerk on board and has said so several times. He thinks it is important that the attacker stays, as he and the club want to attack the Dutch top clubs this season. Now that serious offers have been made for Kerk, the question is whether Zuidam can meet Van den Brom’s wishes. Should Kerk be sold, the club with Manchester City mercenary Daniel Arzani already has a replacement in house.

When Kerk is sold for the desired amount, Utrecht will see the transfer balance rise even further. The club usually buys its players cheaply. For example, players like Eljero Elia, Mimoun Mahi, Django Warmerdam and Moussa Sylla were brought into the house free of transfer. Only for Simon Gustafson, Václav Cerny and Bart Ramselaar, substantial transfer fees of around 800,000 euros have been paid in recent years.

The spending on the transfer market has been offset by the sale of players amounting to more than forty million euros since 2016, the newspaper calculates. The resale percentages have not even been included in this. Players such as Ramselaar (5 million euros), Sofyan Amrabat (5 million euros), Timo Letschert (4 million euros), Ruud Boymans (1 million euros), Sébastien Haller (10 million euros), Zakaria Labyad (7 million euros) and Nicolas Gavory (3.5 million euros) were sold for millions.
