Tottenham Hotspur has been hit by a corona outbreak within the club, reports football.london. On Monday, an unknown number of players and staff members tested positive, while the Spurs play a crucial Conference League game against Stade Rennes on Thursday. For Vitesse, that game will also be decisive for the winter in the tournament.

All infected persons will be tested again on Tuesday. If the corona outbreak is then confirmed, Tottenham will be hit hard, according to the local medium. UEFA rules state that matches may only be postponed if a club has fewer than thirteen A-list players available, or if no goalkeeper is available. Tottenham are not expected to meet those criteria, meaning the game against Rennes will go ahead.

Tottenham and Vitesse have both collected seven points in Group G and will fight for second place on Thursday. The goal difference can be of decisive importance. The Londoners currently have a margin of two hits over the Arnhem team: if Tottenham win 2-0, Vitesse must win 4-0 to continue. Rennes is already assured of group victory, while NS Mura, Vitesse’s opponent next Thursday, will finish at the bottom.

Standings in Group G:
1. Stade Rennes – 11 points (goal difference 10-7: +3)
2. Tottenham Hotspur – 7 points (goal difference 11-8: +3)
3. Vitesse – 7 points (goal difference 9-8: +1)
4. NS Mura – 3 points (goal difference 4-11: -7)
