Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose says he is tired of racial discrimination after being stopped regularly by police and asked if the car he was driving had been stolen.
The 30-year-old English international says he has been experiencing similar issues for the past 15 years.

“This last time, last week, when I returned from a visit to my mother’s house, I had just stopped in a car park so my engine was switched off,” says Rose.

“The police arrived with a protest vehicle and three police cars to interrogate me. They said they had received a complaint that a car was not being driven correctly.

“I was like, ‘So what makes my car?’ I took out my identity document and they had me do a breath test.

“These days it’s just one of those things for me. It is every time: ‘Was this car stolen? Where did you get it? Can you provide proof that you bought it? ‘

“Such incidents leave me skeptical about the prospects of sustainable change. I simply give up that things will change because of some people’s mentality towards racism. ”

Rose said last year he could not wait to leave football because he had had enough of racism in the sport.
