Tottenham Hotspur was surprisingly eliminated from the Europa League on Thursday-evening. José Mourinho’s team failed to continue the 0-2 victory over Dinamo Zagreb from the first leg: in the return the Spurs after extra time with 3-0 down. Harry Kane came close to 3-1 in the final minutes of extra time, but goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic had a sublime save in the house.

Just like in the first leg, Gareth Bale also had to settle for a place on the reserve bench this time, although the Welshman came in for Erik Lamela after an hour of play. After an unsightly first half, there was more spectacle after the break, as Mislav Orsic opened the score after more than an hour of play. Lovro Majer reached Orsic on the corner of the sixteen-meter area, after which the man with number 99 cut in and found the right square with a placed shot: 1-0.
