Nuno Espírito is the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur, the North London club reports via the official channels. The Portuguese manager serves as the successor to Jose Mourinho, who was evicted by Tottenham club management in April this year. Ryan Mason then finished the season. Espírito, who announced his departure from Wolverhampton Wanderers in May after four years, has signed a contract for two seasons.

Tottenham’s search for a new manager was a prayer without end. The North London club has been associated with many a coach in recent months, but has not been able to reach an agreement with anyone. Talks were held with Mauricio Pochettino, Antonio Conte, Paulo Fonseca and Gennaro Gatusso, but each time there were no claims. Erik ten Hag was also explicitly associated with a move to the Premier League. However, the Ajax trainer decided to extend his contract in Amsterdam.

Espírito has passed the application procedure of chairman Daniel Levy. The former manager of Valencia and Wolverhampton Wanderers must bring Tottenham back to the places that entitle them to participate in the Champions League. Last season Tottenham finished disappointingly seventh, which resulted in the club’s participation in the Conference League. Chances are that the Spurs resume the pursuit of Champions League football without star player Harry Kany. The attack leader and captain is in the explicit interest of Manchester City.

The 47-year-old Espírito was gold at the Wolves as a success coach and led the club to the Premier League in its first season by winning the Championship. At the highest level, he guided his team to seventh place twice. Wolverhampton finished thirteenth in the Premier League last season. In May, he announced his departure after four seasons. He has also been at the helm of FC Porto, Valencia and Rio Ave in the past.
