Sergio Reguilón will be the new left back of Tottenham Hotspur. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the London club has reached an agreement with Real Madrid on a transfer fee of thirty million euros. Manchester United was also interested, but the Red Devils didn’t agree with the Royal. Because Reguilón already had a personal agreement with The Spurs it’s only a matter of time before the transer becomes official.

For a long time, Manchester United had the best paperwork to frame Reguilón. The 23-year-old left foot already gave the green light for a transfer to Old Trafford, but United failed to reach an agreement with Real Madrid. The Spanish superpower reportedly stuck to the asking price of thirty million and wanted a repurchase option on Reguilón. Those demands went too far for the club from Manchester, after which Tottenham interfered.

On Tuesday, Tottenham made an offer to Real Madrid which was quickly accepted. According to Romano, the London-based club also agreed to the buy-back option, allowing Real to buy back the player for an agreed amount in the future. In addition, Real Madrid will have the opportunity to match any bid Tottenham receives for Reguilón in the future. Only a medical examination and the paperwork will separate Reguilón from a transfer to London.

Reguilón was trained at Real Madrid and made it to the first team. In the season 2018/19 he reached fourteen league games, but under coach Zinédine Zidane there was no fixed base place. Last season he was leased to Sevilla and under trainer Julen Lopetegui he grew into an important link. The offensive leftback reached 38 matches in all leagues and won the Europa League by winning the final of Internazionale.
