Erik ten Hag would not be wise to return to Ajax this summer if he is fired from Manchester United. Wim Kieft thinks so, he says in the podcast KieftJansenEgmondGijp. The manager of the Red Devils is 'the dream candidate' of the Amsterdam team, but is still under contract in Manchester. If he gets his chance, he should definitely not go to Ajax, according to Kieft. “That madhouse… Take it easy for a year, boy.”

Ajax is busy with the arrival of Francesco Farioli from OGC Nice, but according to several media, Ten Hag is 'the dream candidate' of the policy makers of the Amsterdam team. The manager of the Mancunians has been on the back foot in England for months, but can still give the season some shine when they face Manchester City in the FA Cup final next Saturday.

Kieft does not expect Ten Hag to be 'saved' with a possible FA Cup win. “I don't think so.” The former striker also advises the manager not to return to Ajax if he is fired. “I would never do it if I were Ten Hag. That madhouse… Take it easy for a year, boy.”

Rob Jansen agrees with his table companion. “Why would you do that? Even if you leave Manchester United, you can still go anywhere. Then go to Germany or whatever. Bayern Munich? If he were given that chance, I would run if I were him.”

“I have heard left and right, and especially from Johan Derksen, that Ten Hag comes from a very wealthy family,” Kieft agrees again. “So maybe he doesn't have to do it for the money. Why would you work in the Netherlands if you can work anywhere?”

Ten Hag has had a dramatic season with Manchester United, partly due to a lot of injuries. The English finished last in the Champions League group with Bayern Munich, FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray and in the Premier League they did not get further than eighth place. If Manchester United loses to Manchester City in the FA Cup final, they will not play European football at all next season.
