Tim Hofman has attempted to talk to Marc Overmars. The presenter of YouTube program ANGRY has been chasing the director of Royal Antwerp for a long time because of his share in the controversial cryptocoin Xpose Protocol. However, Overmars does everything he can to avoid having to speak to Hofman and even performs ‘weird traffic manoeuvres’, according to the presenter.

At the beginning of January, Hofman already paid attention to the completely collapsed cryptocoin, to which Overmars was connected as an ‘advisor’. At the time, the former football player was still employed as director of football affairs at Ajax, but after his controversial departure he has been working for Royal Antwerp for a short time. Hofman saw his chance to travel to the club’s stadium in the hope of a confrontation.

Inquiries at the club learned that the press department does not cooperate in a conversation between Hofman and Overmars. A BMW 745 with a Dutch registration plate was found in the parking lot of the Bosuil Stadium, which Hofman suspected belonged to the former the Dutch international. After some waiting, Overmars did indeed drive up in the car in question, to tear away quickly past Hofman. The pursuit was still started, but: “When he started making strange traffic maneuvers, we had to give up,” said Hofman. “After all, it shouldn’t become unsafe.”

Overmars became involved in the summer of 2021 as an ‘advisor’ of cryptocoin Xpose. Many young people lost thousands and sometimes even tens of thousands of euros in 2021 to the now completely collapsed coin, according to some experts from that world a premeditated mega scam. On May 28, 2021 – just three days after Overmars boarded – the bomb exploded. The price of Xpose plummeted in no time like a brick. The crypto coin had a combined value of 125 million dollars at its peak (one day before), now that is suddenly 7 tons. Nearly 20,000 people have lost almost all their money in one fell swoop. Some, seduced by the sweet talk of the influencers, have put in all their savings, sometimes tens of thousands of euros. Overmars stepped down as an advisor at the end of 2021, saying only that he “should have delved better”.
