FC Volendam had a false start to its season in the Kitchen Champion Division on Friday evening. The duel with FC Eindhoven in the Jan Louwers Stadium ended in a 2-2 draw, after a 0-2 lead was handed over. Wim Jonk is furious afterwards at referee Sam Dröge, who in his eyes failed to give a penalty to Volendam three times.

With goals from Damon Mirani and Daryl van Mieghem, Volendam already had an apparently comfortable 0-2 lead after forty minutes of play. However, FC Eindhoven did receive a penalty just before half-time, which was used by Joey Sleegers. He also equalized in stoppage time in the second half. “You play a good first half, in which you are fairly dominant. After that you have the match under control and then you get a cheap penalty”, Jonk analyzes in front of the camera of ESPN.

“If you then give a penalty, you must also give it to us in the second half,” continues the Volendam trainer. Three moments are cited where an alleged foul is committed on Robert Mühren within the penalty area. “I was able to see that moment well, just like everyone in the stadium. It feels like measuring with two standards. This isn’t football, am I retarded? Mühren is completely kicked out.”

“I didn’t think we played well in the second half. Nevertheless, we get three imposed chances, then you have to close the game. And then you concede a very sour second goal”, Jonk also puts his hand in his own bosom after the draw in Eindhoven. A tough duel awaits Volendam in a week, because next Friday ADO Den Haag will visit the KRAS Stadium.
