Ajax must immediately dismiss Sven Mislintat, Valentijn Driessen said in a video item from The Telegraph. On Tuesday afternoon it was announced that Ajax has started an investigation into director of football affairs Sven Mislintat due to a possible conflict of interest. “Ajax then immediately fired Marc Overmars, quite rightly, and must now do so again.”

Driessen equally blames Ajax’s management for the issue. “Ajax should have asked when they were going to hire him whether he has any shares or interests in anything,” the football chief starts. “They should have asked and then told him to give up his shares, otherwise you would have a conflict of interest. That has now become apparent.”

Driessen is referring to the transfer of Borna Sosa. The Croatian left back had to change agent on the last day of the transfer period so that he could make a switch to Ajax. This agent, Arthur Beck, bought shares in the company Matchmetrics GmbH. Mislintat owns 35 percent of the latter company’s shares. Sosa eventually came over from VfB Stuttgart for eight million euros.

“This is the only thing on the table right now. The only thing we have evidence for now,” Driessen continues. “Sosa’s transfer smells. He doesn’t smell, he smells. Overmars was quite rightly directed to the exit because of a dickpic, but then you must also immediately deactivate Mislintat. If it’s all correct, then it’s just plain stealing from your employer. And that is summary dismissal.”
