Thijs Dallinga hopes to return to FC Groningen at some point in his career. The current Toulouse striker was previously under contract with Pride of the North, but he got little satisfaction from that period. In the ESPNpodcast Freesia & Milan park the bus Dallinga confirms that he wants to join Groningen for a second term at some point.

Presenter Milan van Dongen asks the talented attack leader in the podcast whether he will ever return to the Euroborg. “Yes, absolutely,” Dallinga responds resolutely.

“I have always said that I want to play in a full Euroborg. When I made my debut we were dealing with corona and the stadium was completely empty, so eventually I want to go back one day, yes.”

The 23-year-old Dallinga made his breakthrough in professional football in the 2017/18 season at FC Emmen. The Groningen native played eight matches for the club from Drenthe, before he was picked up by the current number three of the Kitchen Champion Division.

Dallinga was doing well in Groningen's promising team and earned a spot in the first selection a number of times. Ultimately, the attacker was allowed to substitute seven times in the green and white shirt, but in those matches he barely managed to impress, let alone score a goal.

After two years at Groningen, Dallinga decided not to renew his expiring contract, much to the dissatisfaction of Groningen's technical management. He chose to try one level lower at Excelsior.

There he scored 32 times in 37 Kitchen Champion Division matches and earned a transfer to Toulouse, which had just been promoted to the highest division in France. The counter now stands at 33 goals after 78 matches for Toulouse.

This earned Dallinga his first call-up for the Dutch national team. In November 2023 he made his debut in the Dutch team against Gibraltar (0-6 win).
