Brighton Hove & Albion currently has the best papers to take over Mohammed Kudus from Ajax. That is what Mike Verweij says The Telegraph Monday in the podcast Kick off. Earlier, transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano also reported about Brighton’s interest in the 22-year-old Ghanaian. Manchester United is also interested in the Ajax player.
“The name of Kudus is very emphatically associated with Manchester United,” Verweij begins. “And that would be very striking. Brighton Hove & Albion currently has the best papers for Kudus, they are also in the race and have reported to Ajax. But if Manchester United comes, Erik ten Hag can be very good for his old club again.” He is referring, among other things, to the transfer of Antony for 100 million euros.
Verweij also has an idea of how much Ajax hopes to have left over from a transfer from Kudus, which will be fixed in Amsterdam until mid-2025. “Ajax has an amount of approximately 45 million euros in mind for Kudus. But whether they will ever get that… That seems to me to be a very expensive payment for a boy who has been injured quite a lot.”
If the transfer to the south of England actually goes through, the Ghanaian can be seen as the successor to Alexis Mac Allister. The Argentinian world champion recently left Brighton for an adventure at Liverpool. Or the Seagulls actually succeed in angling Kudus, however, remains to be seen. The transfer was described by Romano as ‘not an easy task’ last weekend. The money from Mac Allister’s transfer could help with that. Brighton was one of the big surprises in the Premier League last season and finished sixth after an excellent season. With this, the club qualified for the Europa League for the first time in its history.
