National champion PSV started preparing for the new season on 1 July. The Eindhoven team is still waiting for its first practice win. Anderlecht was too strong for PSV with a 0-3 score, which was stuck at a draw against Club Brugge (1-1). Successful coach Peter Bosz is calling on various young players for this preparation, who are hoping for a definitive breakthrough in the Philips Stadium next season. Football zone introduces them to you!

Michael Bresser (17)

American-born Michael Bresser is a right back who can also play in the centre of defence. The expectation is that he will mainly play minutes in PSV Under 19, the Youth League and Jong PSV next season, but Bosz still wants to see the Dutch youth international at work in Germany this week. Bresser should eventually become PSV's first right back.

Matteo Dams (20)

Belgian Matteo Dams seems to be getting his last chance at PSV. Although the left-footed defender did not have a good year in the reserve team, the Eindhoven team decided to exercise the one-year option in his contract. According to journalist Rik Elfrink of the Eindhoven Daily Newspaper Dams is strong on the ball, but he needs to grow as a pure defender and eliminate the mistakes from his game.

Emmanuel van de Blaak (19)

Youth international Emmanuel van de Blaak has been considered one of the greatest defensive talents at PSV Campus De Herdgang for years. The teenager has already played 54 matches for Jong PSV in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, but hopes for more minutes in the first team soon. Van de Blaak made his debut on 3 November 2022 during the Europa League match against FK Bodø/Glimt (1-2 win). That was also his only match in PSV 1 so far.

Fabian Merién (15)

Age is just a number. That is what Bosz must have thought when he called up Fabian Merién (26 September 2008) for the PSV training camp. Despite his age, the fifteen-year-old defender leaves an excellent impression in Marienfeld. Last season, Merién played his matches in PSV Under 17, but he now finds himself on the field with established names such as Olivier Boscagli, Luuk de Jong and Noa Lang.

Fredrik Oppegard (21)

Winger Fredrik Oppegård is back from his loan spell at Heracles. The left-footer was a regular at the club from Almelo in the past six months, where he managed to play Jetro Willems out of the starting line-up. Oppegård is contracted to PSV until mid-2025, which means the Brabant team will soon make a decision about his future at the Philips Stadium.

Tygo Land (18)

Tygo Land is known as one of PSV's greatest talents. The eighteen-year-old midfielder witnessed first-hand how the Eindhoven team won the Dutch national title last season. Land himself played a total of nineteen minutes in the Eredivisie, divided over three appearances. During the 6-0 home win over Vitesse, he immediately managed to provide an assist. Land, who trained at sc Heerenveen, hopes for more minutes under Bosz next season.

Jaden de Guzman (17)

Midfielder Jaden de Guzmán is not the only football son on this list. However, there is an extra special hook behind his name. If Jaden plays against Sparta Rotterdam this season, there is a good chance that he will fight duels with father Jonathan (36). PSV took over De Guzmán from the Feyenoord youth academy two years ago and he has been developing rapidly since then. Last season, the right-footer made his debut in professional football for Jong PSV.

Isaac Babadi (19)

PSV supporters will be relieved that Isaac Babadi is still wearing the shirt of the national champion. The top talent from Nijmegen was heavily linked to a spicy transfer-free move to Feyenoord last season, but ultimately chose to extend his contract in Eindhoven. Now Babadi is ready for the next step: really breaking through in PSV 1. In his first season in the first team, the midfielder managed to score 2 times in 22 official matches.

Noah Fernandez (16)

Noah Fernandez is the next Belgian who wants to make a splash at PSV. The sixteen-year-old left-footer, attacking midfielder by profession, recently extended his contract in Eindhoven. According to Elfrink, PSV was very keen to keep him on board, as Fernandez is seen as a great talent. A professional debut in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie seems the ideal next step.

Jevon Simons (18)

Jevon Simons' statistics for Jong PSV are impressive. During his debut season in the reserve team, the right winger scored 11 goals and provided 6 assists in 28 league matches. Simons' contract with PSV expires in June 2025, which means the Eindhoven team will have to come up with a good plan to keep him. The attacker himself is eager to prove himself in the Eredivisie.

Simons was very productive in the Kitchen Champion Division last season.

Jason van Duiven (19)

In the past six months, Jason van Duiven played on loan for Almere City. While the youth international has an excellent average in Jong PSV (21 goals and 4 assists in 48 matches), he was unable to convince the promoted team. In 326 minutes (fourteen matches) for Almere, Van Duiven remained dry in terms of goals and assists. The striker is still waiting for his debut for PSV, although a new loan spell is probably more likely.

Jesper Uneken (19)

Striker Jesper Uneken currently has the best goal average in the history of PSV. The player from Den Bosch only needed two minutes to get on the scoreboard during his debut against AZ (5-1 win) last season. One should not expect Uneken to continue that average, but the right-footed player certainly showed that he has a nose for the goal!

Jordy Bawuah (17)

Midfielder and winger Jordy Bawuah is the third Belgian in this list, which he also completes. PSV acquired the left-footer from KRC Genk in the summer of 2018. Bawuah made his debut for Jong PSV last year and it is expected that he will join the reserves team after the training camp of the main squad. Bawuah has not yet played youth internationals for Belgium and could eventually be considered for the Dutch national team.

Jesper Uneken is the son of former defender Peter Uneken.
