Aad de Mos does not think that Xavi Simons has done well to move to Paris Saint-Germain, he says on Sunday afternoon in conversation with ESPN. The former trainer believes that Simons will ‘just remain a little boy’ in the French capital. In addition, De Mos thinks that Simons will experience a lot less joy at PSG than in Eindhoven.

“I think that the agents have not informed him properly from a football point of view. They just want to earn money as quickly as possible,” De Mos begins his argument. “I have seen PSG play live in Paris a number of times and those balls first went to Neymar and Kylian Mbappé. Everything went to him at PSV. He had been a supporting player and had had more joy in playing in Eindhoven. There in Paris he is just a little boy.”

In addition, the former trainer of Ajax, PSV, Anderlecht and KV Mechelen, among others, is afraid that Simons will not get to play much under Luis Enrique. “He could have guided PSV through the preliminary rounds of the Champions League, together with a number of purchases. I think it would be nice for him to play a lot, that is not going to happen now. He will not be able to excel there.”

De Mos also blames PSV for not properly negotiating at the front by the club management. The people of Eindhoven sell Simons because of a clause for six million euros, forty million below its market value. “PSV should have taken a harder line. You are now hiring a player to make him better for another club. The same happened with Jarrad Branthwaite, who is now back in the picture at Everton, thanks to PSV.”

However, it is not yet a foregone conclusion that the twenty-year-old midfielder will really start working for the French champion next season. Simons knew what the star players Neymar and Mbappé will do in the coming period L’Equipe to report earlier on Sunday. If both attackers stay, the young acquisition will be rented out to a major club in Europe anyway. The French newspaper does not know specifically which club it is about. However, Romano reports on Sunday that RB Leipzig has the best papers to bring in Simons on a rental basis and that a final decision will be made on Tuesday. There are more hijackers on the coast, the transfer market expert knows.
