Denzel Dumfries is Hugo Borst’s favorite player, he writes in his column for it General Journal. The sixty-year-old writer can’t wait to see the Internazionale defender play against Manchester City in the Champions League final on Saturday. “I’m almost 61 and I asked my idol for a training jacket from Inter,” says Borst.
“I would rather have received a competition shirt from him. But that doesn’t fit me. The way Dumfries steams up the right flank, according to Borst, no one has ever done it before. The columnist states that someone like Willem van Hanegem would always put the 27-year-old defender first on the the Dutch match form. “He, named by his parents after actor Denzel Washington, is my absolute favourite. The football season is still short. The closing promises a lot. It’s the Dumfries weeks for me. I can’t wait to see him compete against Jack Grealish (Saturday, ed.) And then in the Nations League against Ivan Perisic (next Wednesday, ed.).”
Borst is proud that Dumfries can act in the final of the Champions League on Saturday. “Who would have thought: Well, Denzel Dumfries! And the nice thing is, it’s not arrogance. He is wary of that. Denzel really knows his limitations, the man has an excellent self-image. As a novice in the Kitchen Champion Division, his fellow players were in a dent. He, the footballer with the hardest feet, claimed that he was going to get the the Dutch squad? His teammates neighed. You could hear the laughter outside the stadium. Hahahahaha.”
