Netherlands knows referee for quarter-final against Turkey

Clément Turpin will be the first official for the European Championship quarter-final between the Netherlands and Turkey on Saturday. The 42-year-old Frenchman will be supported on the sidelines by compatriots Nicolas Danos and Benjamin Pages, while Jérôme Brisard will serve as video referee. Felix Zwayer, who refereed the match between the Netherlands and Romania on Tuesday, will be the fourth official in Berlin.

Turpin has already been in charge of the opening match between Germany and Scotland at this European Championship. It is the first time since November 2021 that he has refereed an Oranje match. At that time, the team of then national coach Louis van Gaal won the World Cup qualifier against Norway 2-0 in De Kuip.

Peter Bosz wins Rinus Michels Award

Peter Bosz has won the Rinus Michels Award for the best coach of the past Eredivisie season. In doing so, he shakes off René Hake (Go Ahead Eagles), Rogier Meijer (NEC), Joseph Oosting (FC Twente) and Arne Slot (Feyenoord).

For Bosz it was an extremely successful first season at PSV. He convincingly won the national title and claimed the Johan Cruijff Shield. He also reached the round of 16 of the Champions League. Incidentally, the award for best coach of the Keuken Kampioen Divisie went to Dick Lukkien of FC Groningen.

Lionel Messi not against Peru

Argentina will be without Lionel Messi during the final group match of the Copa América against Peru. The 37-year-old star player is struggling with hamstring problems, which means he will have to miss the match in Miami. National coach Lionel Scaloni will also not be present against Peru. The Argentine has been suspended for one match because his team was too late back on the field after the break in the previous match against Chile.

Felix Zwayer takes charge of the Dutch national team's round of 16

The Dutch national team knows which referee will lead the match against Romania. German Felix Zwayer will be the referee in one of the round of 16 of the tournament. It will be his second match at this European Championship. Zwayer has refereed a match for the Dutch national team twice before, both times against France. Not very promising: both times the match was lost: 2-3 (2016) and 1-2 (2023).

Heerenveen presents new goalkeeping coach at lightning speed

Less than 24 hours after the announcement of Ruud Hesp's departure, sc Heerenveen has presented its new goalkeeper coach. Harmen Kuperus will take charge of the goalkeepers in Friesland. In the past, he held the same position at Go Ahead Eagles, Fortuna Sittard and the Suriname national team, among others.

Jan Streuer will continue at FC Twente for another year

Jan Streuer (73) will also be associated with FC Twente next season. He has extended his expiring contract in Enschede by one year, until July 1, 2025. Streuer was technical director of Twente between mid-2020 and mid-2023, since then he has been involved with the club as part of the technical management.

“I am really enjoying myself at FC Twente and I enjoy working with the people within the club. I really like the role I have and it is great that we will be playing in Europe again with FC Twente in the new season. The club is ambitious, that suits me, and I want to continue to make my contribution,” Streuer said on the club website.
