The Oranje Leeuwinnen have qualified for the 2025 European Championship in Switzerland. In the last match in Group 1, the Netherlands needed a 1-1 draw against Norway to finish second in the group behind Italy in the qualifying series. Vivianne Miedema secured her team the European Championship ticket with a well-aimed header in the eightieth minute.

National coach Andries Jonker made no changes compared to last Friday's match against Italy (0-0). Lize Kop was in goal, while the four-man defence consisted of Kerstin Casparij, Sherida Spitse, Dominique Janssen and Esmee Brugts.

Daniëlle van de Donk started as left midfielder; Chasity Grant was positioned on the right. Jackie Groenen and Wieke Kaptein had a controlling role. The two attackers on duty were Miedema and Lineth Beerensteyn.

The Netherlands had a lot of trouble with Norway in the first half. Although Jonker's team had a lot of possession (64 percent), they did not make any attempts on goal.

The Norwegian women did have some good opportunities, but Karina Saevik and Guro Bergsvand, among others, failed to beat goalkeeper Kop.

The Lionesses also came out of the dressing room not at all strong. Finally, Norway struck in the 61st minute. Casparij mishandled a corner kick, allowing Caroline Graham Hansen to shoot in from close range: 1-0.

Afterwards, the Dutch team continued to press the opposing goal, and with success. Ten minutes before the end of regular time, Grant broke through on the right flank. She gave a perfect cross to the head of Miedema, who headed in from close range: 1-1.
