The capital injection of fifty million euros should give PSV a lot more financial scope for next season. However, it does not mean that the Eindhoven club will use this full amount on the summer transfer market. On the other hand, technical director John de Jong emphasizes that he does not have to sell a player before an acquisition can actually be presented in the Philips Stadium.

De Jong has been told more than once in recent times that he can bring the necessary purchases to PSV because of the capital injection. “But I don’t get fifty million euros in pocket money, you know. Our plan was made in difficult times”, the ‘td’ said in an extensive interview with Football International. “We have explicitly asked ourselves how we can still take a step forward in corona time. Money will be made available through a combination of a partner fund and a possible mortgage on the stadium, which is now completely mortgage-free.” In any case, De Jong has a lot of confidence in PSV’s financial plans. “And the amount can indeed amount to about fifty million euros.”

De Jong does not yet know what transfer amount he will receive from the PSV leadership this summer. “The capital injection does give us more speed of action than usual. Where we always had to sell before I could buy, that is no longer necessary.” An example of the new way of working on a technical level at PSV immediately follows. “With that thought we have already been able to get Joël Drommel. That is a good example and a good investment. We can be more decisive than before.”

Whether Davy Pröpper follows the example of Drommel and also signs with PSV is still the question, De Jong emphasizes. “Perhaps, but it is not the case that I will spend too high transfer amounts for a player who is already 29 years old. It is suggested that this is going to happen now, but it will not be. We cannot pay tens of millions for a player. which then no longer has any residual value. That is not the PSV’s and that is not how we want to deal with this plan, “said De Jong, who wants to add football to PSV’s midfield this summer anyway. “Joey Veerman? Davy Pröpper? Interesting players, but we follow a lot of interesting players, whereby the price tag attached to it is of course very important.”
