If it were up to the analysts of Studio Football PSV coach Roger Schmidt will soon replace his keeper Joël Drommel by Yvon Mvogo. Drommel showed himself negatively during the game against NEC (1-2 win) on Sunday evening by letting go of a ball, allowing Magnus Mattson to score the opening goal. Theo Janssen says in the talk show of the NOS shocked by what Drommel has shown since his transfer from FC Twente to PSV.

“If they want to become champions, then they don’t. It’s really time to switch now. If you keep making mistakes like this, you can’t keep fielding a goalkeeper. In my opinion, Schmidt also prefers to draft Mvogo and now is the perfect time for that. But yes, they won again. Maybe he will wait until after the winter break. This is of course not possible”, Rafael van der Vaart begins. Yvon Mvogo will be rented from RB Leipzig for the time being until the end of the season.

“He is definitely not having a good season”, Janssen adds. “If you’ve seen him at FC Twente and compare it to this season, you’ll be shocked. He lets go of a lot of balls, is wrong: this is not the boy we know. Maybe the pressure is getting too much for him. In the end you will have to give him another chance, because you bought him and gave him a contract for five years. It would be weird to kill them all. Just for now you just need to take the pressure off him.”

“We did not expect that he would fall back so far”, also thinks Arno Vermeulen, chief of football at the NOS. “I thought he was a very talented goalkeeper. He was one of two candidates for the position of first goalkeeper at the Dutch and did not do well. Bijlow has done well. At the Dutch he fell back to the stands very quickly, maybe that has done something to him. He clearly felt that there was no confidence in him there and he took that with him to PSV. This is a problem for a trainer. In the short term you should take Mvogo, because you don’t want to lose points. But Drommel is a boy for the future.”
