Ondréj Kúdela has been suspended by UEFA for no fewer than ten European matches. The defender of Slavia Prague is said to have been racist against Rangers FC player Glen Kamara recently during the encounter in the eighth final of the Europa League. The European Football Association has come to the conclusion that Kúdela should serve a long sentence for the misconduct. The news comes a day before Slavia’s second meeting with Arsenal in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Kúdela took the ire of everyone and everything at Rangers in the return leg at Ibrox Park on March 18. After the racism incident, Kamara and his teammates took the same story with the Czech player, while manager Steven Gerrard also strongly condemned Kúdela’s action. At the request of the club management of the Scottish champions, UEFA then opened an investigation, with the result that the European season of the Slavia defender has an early end.

UEFA announced on Wednesday that Kúdela has been suspended for racist behavior in last month’s meeting with Rangers. The central defender has already been suspended for one of ten matches. He missed the away game against Arsenal (1-1) last week due to a temporary suspension. It is not yet known whether the Slavia board plans to appeal against the sanction imposed on Kúdela by UEFA.

In addition to Kúdela, Kamara has also been suspended from UEFA, although the Rangers midfielder misses only three European games from his club. On the television images it became clear that the Slavia defender was saying something to Kamara with his hand over his mouth, after which the Finnish player in Scottish service reacted furiously. He has to miss some matches from UEFA because of violent behavior.
