Telstar also failed to win the fifth league game of this season. On a visit to MVV Maastricht, the team of trainer Andries Jonker lost 3-0. The Telstar trainer would rather not have played the game on Sunday afternoon at 2.30 pm, because half an hour later the start of the Grand Prix of Zandvoort was scheduled and, according to Jonker, there would be little attention for the Kitchen Champion Division match.

“I think you play professional football for spectators in the stadium and for viewers on television,” he said on Sunday morning ESPN. “And if you know in advance that those spectators prefer to watch driving and TV viewers too, then you might be able to move to 12.15 pm. But nobody came up with that.” Jonker indicated that he thought it was ‘also good’. “Because it is extremely complicated to shift. But I think it’s a shame,” said the trainer of the club from IJmuiden.

MVV went into the dressing room on Sunday afternoon after 45 minutes of play with a 3-0 lead. After fifteen minutes of play, the home team scored 1-0 via Mart Remans. The attacker cut out his opponent and shot into the short corner. Not long after, he scored the second of the afternoon. Remans made an attempt from distance and was helped by Telstar goalkeeper Trevor Doornbusch. The closing post blundered by letting the ball roll into the goal through his legs.

Jonker intervened before the break. After 38 minutes of play, he brought Sven van Doorm and Tom Overtoom to the side in favor of Ozan Kökçü and Cas Dijkstra. The substitutions did not have the desired effect, because seconds after the double substitution, Sven Blummel signed for the 3-0. After the break, the scoreboard was no longer moved. Telstar remains behind in the competition with two points; MVV climbs to fifth position.
