Youth international Elayis Tavsan will exchange NEC for Hellas Verona, it is reported Football International Monday. The 22-year-old Rotterdammer has an expiring contract in Nijmegen, which means that NEC must let him go in order to still receive a transfer fee from his departure.

According to journalist Sander Janssen, NEC is approaching an agreement with Hellas Verona, number eighteen in Serie A. Tavsan recently signed a pre-contract for a summer transfer to Italy, but will most likely make the move this month.

NEC failed to extend Tavsan's expiring contract, so it has now agreed to his early departure. How much he will yield for the people of Nijmegen is as yet unknown, although we already know VI to report that the amount is lower than the EUR 1 million mentioned in Italy.

On Tuesday, Tavsan will travel to Verona, where he will undergo his medical examination. For the Italian low-flyer, the left-footed will be Cyril Ngonge's successor. The latter, who played in the Netherlands for Jong PSV, RKC Waalwijk and FC Groningen, was recently sold to Napoli. In addition to Tavsan, Hellas Verona also hopes to attract Fortuna Sittard striker Tijjani Noslin.

Tavsan has played for NEC since the summer of 2020, which paid 200,000 euros to free him from Sparta Rotterdam. Since then, he has played 118 times on behalf of the Nijmegen team, scoring 25 goals and providing 17 assists. The ten-time international of the Dutch Juniors appears to be working abroad for the first time in his career.

This season, Tavsan could not always count on a starting place under coach Rogier Meijer. After the winter break, the winger no longer played on behalf of NEC, as he could no longer fully focus on the number seven of the Eredivisie due to transfer problems.

Tavsan and Noslin become part of a small Dutch enclave at Hellas Verona. In addition to Amsterdammer Jayden Braaf, defender Diogo Coppola is also under contract at Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi. Despite his Dutch roots, Italy's youth international seems to be focusing on an international career with Gli Azzurri.
