The gesture that Dusan Tadic made during the Classic towards Feyenoord captain Orkun Kökçü had nothing to do with Ramadan, the captain of Ajax himself says to the Serbian Mozart Sports. The left leg said he asked Kökçü ‘whether the grass tasted good’. After the incident, Tadic had to pay off on Instagram with a large number of Turks who stood up for their international.

During the semi-cup final between Feyenoord and Ajax (1-2), a remarkable clash arose between Kökçü and Tadic. The captain of Feyenoord seemed to get a blur after a fierce exchange of words with the Serbian attacker. Based on the images, the Serb seemed to ridicule Ramadan, although Kökçü already doubted that afterwards. Tadic is attacked under his most recent Instagram post. More than 64,000 reactions can now be read under the message, especially from angry Turks.

Unjustly, since he has no problems with Kökçü, says Tadic himself. “All that nonsense! First it was about the captaincy for Turkey and Syria. It was the club’s decision. The club decided to wear special shirts for the match, which I think is a more powerful gesture, but nobody is talking about that.” Nothing was wrong during the Classic in the Johan Cruijff ArenA (2-3 Feyenoord). “We shook hands, but the media said no. Kökçu chose the wrong half, then told referee Danny Makkelie that he meant the other side, that was it,” said Tadic.

Last Wednesday, Tadic and Kökçü clearly got into a fight, but the captain of Ajax denies having made any gestures about Ramadan. “After a duel with me, he went to the ground. He then jumped up and ran into me. I asked him if the grass tasted good. Then I told him to go to the gym more often. That was all, but everything is made into a big story.” After the riot, things got completely out of hand in De Kuip. Ajax player Davy Klaassen was hit by a lighter from the audience, after which the match was briefly stopped. Ajax eventually qualified for the final of the TOTO KNVB Cup, in which PSV is the opponent on April 30.
