Liverpool recorded an away win for the first time in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon when they visited Brentford FC. Manager Jürgen Klopp's team made a mature impression and triumphed 1-4. Mohamed Salah enhanced his return with a goal and an assist and Cody Gakpo was also accurate. Diogo Jota dropped out with an apparently serious injury.

At the start of the match between Brentford and Liverpool, two Dutchmen took the kick-off: Virgil van Dijk and Mark Flek. Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch had to settle for a place on the bench. Salah was back in the match selection for the first time in weeks.

Although Brentford came out strong, the first good chance of the match belonged to Liverpool. After a great solo by the young Conor Bradley, Fleks had to act. The Dutch goalie also had a good answer to Jota's rebound.

Then it was the turn of Brentford and the in-form Ivan Toney. The striker first shot narrowly wide and then saw an effort saved by Caoimhín Kelleher. The latter stood in between the posts as a replacement for Alisson Becker the Reds.

After half an hour of play, Gravenberch came in for the injured Curtis Jones and Darwin Núñez gave the guests the lead not much later. Jota won the header duel and sent his Uruguayan teammate alone to Flokken. Núñez finished it off with a sublime lob: 0-1.

Liverpool thus broke through a difficult first half hour, in which the team barely managed to create any chances. The big setback was Jota's withdrawal just before half time. The unfortunate Portuguese saw an opponent land on his knee and had to be carried off the field on a stretcher. Salah came into the team ahead of him.

The Egyptian immediately showed his class and claimed a leading role with a goal and an assist. First he enabled Alexis Mac Allister to score from close range, only to score the 0-3 against the ropes ten minutes later on a pass from Gakpo.

Brentford did something back in the person of Toney (rebound), but had to watch as the final agreement came from Liverpool once again. After Nathan Collins fumbled, the Dutchman had the corner to choose: 1-4. For Fleks it became an afternoon to quickly forget.
