League Two club Swindon Town has launched a search for a six-year-old supporter. The young fan sent the club a handwritten letter stating that his mother has no money for food and therefore cannot attend matches of his favorite football club. He also pasted 26 pence, converted 30 euro cents, on the letter for striker Harry McKirdy.

“Mum has no money to come to Swindon games. She has no money for food and has to pay for my food at school,” reads the heartbreaking text of the young fan. “I love Swindon Town player Harry McKirdy. One day I will come. Joe, 6.5 years old.” The note was quickly picked up by the English media and is now all over the world.

As a result of the note, Swindon Town has started a search for the boy. The club has posted an appeal on Twitter hoping to get in touch with the supporter. “We have received this letter from Swindon Town fan Joe, who is 6.5 years old,” reads the club’s tweet. “We would love to get in touch with Joe, but we don’t have a return address. If anyone recognizes the text or thinks they know who Joe is, please email the club.”

McKirdy was recruited by Swindon last summer after completing a successful trial period. The striker has quickly become a crowd favorite. The 24-year-old McKirdy has scored 14 goals in 32 games in all competitions so far and was awarded a new contract last month. He had his best moment in the third round of the FA Cup, when he was accurate in the 1-4 loss against champions Manchester City.
