Sven van Beek unintentionally set a new record in the Eredivisie on Saturday evening. The 26-year-old center-back of Willem II made his seventh own goal against FC Utrecht in an unfortunate way and thus caught up with the number of former Sparta Rotterdam defender Marília and former PSV defender Daan Schrijvers.

In his time at Feyenoord, the club that leases him to Willem II, Van Beek already recorded six hits of his own and added his seventh on Saturday evening. The man wanted to head the ball away from a corner kick, but got the ball in duel with Emil Bergström on his shoulder. Van Beek was unlucky that the ball ended up unluckily behind his own goalkeeper. The defender managed to shoot the ball into the right goal only three times in the Eredivisie in his career.

Van Beek had held the record for a long time together with two others. The Brazilian Marília made six own goals in the service of Sparta and VVV-Venlo. Daan Schrijvers was employed by NAC, DWS and PSV until the same number. Former NAC defender Rob Penders is one of the players who has five hits of his own.
