Turkey failed to win Guinea on Monday evening. The team of national coach Senol Günes was the parent in the exhibition game, but the wall of the current number 72 of the FIFA world ranking was not broken: 0-0. Orkun Kökçü and Halil Dervisoglu started from the bench but came in in the second half. On Thursday, Turkey will play a final friendly against Moldova in preparation for the European Championship.

The most notable absentee on the Turkish side was Burak Yilmaz, who won the French national title with OSC Lille last week and was released for the friendly meeting. The first chance of the match was noted by José Kanté, who fired at the enemy goal on behalf of Guinea but saw goalkeeper Mert Günok save. Then it was Turkey’s turn. It was in particular Cengiz Ünder who frequently showed himself in front of the enemy goal, but the attacker lacked sharpness in the completion.

Ten minutes after the break, Guinea showed itself again. Yakhouba Barry rushed into the box and created space for the shot, but Günok was well positioned and processed the attempt for a corner kick. Halfway through the second half, Kenan Karaman had a good opportunity to open the score on a pass from Ünder, but his bet went just wide. In the last minute of regular time, Kökçu made another attempt to break the spell with a long-range shot, but goalkeeper Aly Keita had a nice save.
