Excelsior is still waiting for its first home win in the Kitchen Champion Division. After the 4-6 loss against Almere City FC, Telstar took three points in Kralingen on Tuesday-evening. The game ended with a late goal from Yaël Liesdek in 1-2. For the first time this season, Elías Már Ómarsson, good for seven hits in the first three games, did not score. The result puts Telstar Excelsior in the ranking.

For the first time this season, Excelsior went into halftime without scoring. However, the most accurate club in the Kitchen Champion Division got off to a promising start in the Van Donge & De Roo Stadium. An attempt by Siebe Horemans, probably intended as a cross, ends on top of the crossbar. However, it wasn’t all that spectacular in Kralingen. A bet by Cas Dijkstra went just wide of the goal and Reuven Niemeijer got a good chance from a cross by Ahmad Mendes Moreira, but nodded the ball wide.

Towards half time Telstar showed itself more, with a decent shooting chance for Welat Cagro and a lob from Glynor Plet, but without result. The second half had barely started when Excelsior took the lead thanks to a hit by Joël Zwarts. However, the Dijkhuizen team was unable to push through and relinquished the game in the last twenty minutes. Twenty minutes before the end, Sven van Doorm was completely free and shot the ball hard into the top corner behind the hopeless Alessandro Damen: 1-1.

Both teams got chances for the full win in the remainder of the game and it was Telstar that eventually took the three runs. In the fifth minute of injury time, the eighteen-year-old Liesdek, who had come in just before time and only played his third game in professional football, was able to run freely and shot the ball into the short corner under Damen: 1-2. Excelsior did not beat Telstar for the sixth time in a row. The Kralingers last defeated the club from Velsen-Zuid in their own stadium in 2005
