Paris Saint-Germain qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday evening at the expense of FC Barcelona. Luis Enrique's team was this time 4-1 too strong after last week's 2-1 defeat. The turning point in the match was a red card for Ronald Araújo after half an hour of play. Ousmane Dembélé, of all people, played a leading role for the Parisians.

The last time Paris Saint-Germain visited Barcelona, Ronald Koeman was still the trainer in Catalonia. It was 2021 and the French won 4-1 after a hat-trick from Kylian Mbappé.

The French star player was of course also present on Tuesday evening. PSG started the match brightly, but within fifteen minutes they fell behind. After good preparatory work on the right by Lamine Yamal, Raphinha was able to finish at the first post: 1-0.

Robert Lewandowski had the opportunity to double the score halfway through the first half, but his shot after an attack on the left was hard, but went over the goal to Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The first danger from the Parisian side came from Mbappé's foot. The attacker tried with a careful shot with the inside of the foot, but found Marc-André ter Stegen in his way. A minute later the visitors were helped into the saddle.

Araújo felt forced to pull the emergency brake when Bradley Barcola, who had broken through, enjoyed free passage towards Ter Stegen. The Uruguayan defender pushed the French winger in the back and was able to intervene with a red card.

It turned out to be the turning point in the match, as PSG ruled from that moment on. Dembélé shot just wide on the stroke of half-time. Even after the break, it was the French superpower that dominated, which quickly led to the 1-2 score.

Vitinha was given time and space to take a shot from about twenty meters and did so with extreme precision. Ter Stegen had no answer to the Portuguese's efforts. In the minutes that followed it became increasingly hectic.

Ilkay Gündogan hit the outside of the post and Xavi, like Araújo, was sent off for kicking a cushion, before it was Dembélé again who hurt his former employer.

The Frenchman let the ball jump meters from his foot, but was knocked out by João Cancelo when he tried to make something of his action. Romanian referee István Kovács pointed to the spot, after which it was a breeze for Mbappé to score his seventh Champions League goal of the season.

However, Barcelona did not give up. After another member of the technical staff saw red, Lewandowski forced Donnarumma to make a supreme effort with a fiery left-footed shot. Substitute Ferran Torres fell just short of the rebound.

The curtain finally fell when Mbappé lifted the margin to three in the final minute. Ter Stegen first managed to make two saves, but had no chance from close range on the third attempt. PSG will face Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals, which won 4-2 against Atlético Madrid.
