Latest update:

Kenneth Perez thinks Timon Wellenreuther is a fantastic reserve goalkeeper, says the analyst ESPN on Monday evening Football talk. The 28-year-old German will be back in charge at Feyenoord in the coming weeks, as Justin Bijlow was injured again last Sunday against AZ (0-1 win).

Wellenreuther was permanently acquired from RSC Anderlecht last summer for just 1 million euros, after he had already performed an important service for Feyenoord in the club's championship year. In South Rotterdam, the closure is fixed until mid-2025.

Perez is impressed by Wellenreuther's performance, he says. “He's doing really fantastic. He hasn't played for a while now, but he comes in and is solid and confident. There was not a hint of uncertainty to be seen. They must be happy with that at Feyenoord.”

Journalist Mikos Gouka from the Algemeen Dagblad also thinks it is wise that Feyenoord has invested in Wellenreuther. “They of course anticipated the fact that Bijlow is often injured. First they had Ofir Marciano, which was free. They really bought Wellenreuther with the idea that he would have to work sometimes.”

“They saw that well,” said Perez, who seems to sneer at the other transfer policy of the reigning national champion. “Still a successful transfer.” Gouka responds with a laugh. “Yes, that one, yes.”

Wellenreuther has played 24 official matches for Feyenoord so far, in which he managed to keep his goal clean 6 times. The German conceded a total of 28 goals. Wellenreuther made his most crucial save in Rotterdam service last year in the Johan Cruijff Arena. The goalie masterfully saved Mohammed Kudus' effort, after which Feyenoord managed to win 2-3.

Luka Ivanusec

With his comment about Feyenoord's transfer policy, Perez immediately started a new discussion. The Croatian million-dollar purchase Ivanusec had to suffer again. “That is starting to become a problem,” says Gouka. “To date, he has not been able to demonstrate that he can participate in the game that Feyenoord wants to play. He cannot keep up with the intensity that Arne Slot demands of him.”
