A steward from PEC Zwolle was seriously assaulted on Sunday afternoon during the home match against Feyenoord (0-2). Report that the Bluefingers in a statement on the club website. The steward drew the attention of some supporters to their stadium ban and was subsequently dealt with harshly. Three suspects have now been arrested, it is known Algemeen Dagblad.

The steward noted on Sunday that a number of supporters with a ban were still present in the MAC³PARK stadium. When he asked them to leave, one person refused to do so. When the steward then spoke to that person again, he was ‘severely abused’ by several people, the statement said.

The police then took over and it was decided to close some exits after the match. PEC therefore apologizes to its supporters.

“As a club, we find it very annoying that this situation has caused the vast majority of supporters to suffer and feel unsafe. The entire situation will be further evaluated and investigated in the coming days,” the club said.

According to it Algemeen Dagblad three suspects have now been arrested. These are three residents of Zwolle, aged 29, 49 and 59. The trio will remain in custody until the police investigation into the incident ends. The steward did not need to go to hospital for his injuries.

PEC leader on fine list
The NOS revealed in August that PEC has been at the top of the KNVB’s fine list since the corona crisis. The Zwolle club have already been imposed with sanctions worth almost 84,000 euros due to misconduct among supporters. General manager Xander Czaikowski said he was disappointed about that.

“We have invested a lot of time in our safety organization in the past year, which has undergone a fair overhaul. We have written a new safety policy, together with the supporters. And we have set up a conduct committee. We hope that we will receive fewer penalties this year and that our supporters will start to behave more,” Czaikowski said NOS.
