LEE Langeveldt, captain and goalkeeper of Stellenbosch FC, believes his team can continue its unbeaten run since the resumption of the Premier League.

Stellies will face AmaZulu in its penultimate match at Tuks Stadium today.

His final game then follows Saturday against Orlando Pirates at Ellispark Stadium.

Since local football returned to action in August under the bio-bubble regulation, Stellies has been on the winning side twice and has also drawn twice.

Stellies had to share the honors with the Eastern Cape team Chippa United 1-1 last Friday.

Langeveldt says: “Our record in the bio-bubble ice is good and we want to keep it that way.

“It will mean a lot to end the season unbeaten, especially after we worked so hard to get here.”

However, AmaZulu is fighting relegation and according to Langeveldt, this makes the Durban team a very dangerous opponent.

Langeveldt feels that staying unbeaten is very important and they will have to approach the remaining matches in the same way.

Strengthen

The team from the Eikestad also still cherishes Top-8 aspirations in just its first season of football in South Africa’s top flight.

Stellies is currently in 10th place with 35 league points. He can therefore still strengthen his chances of ending the season among the top eight teams with victories in his remaining powerplays.

A top-8 place means that Stellies will be able to play in the money-rich MTN8 knockout competition. He will also be able to make his voice heard as a team that will participate in SA football’s leading competition for a long time to come.
