Rafael Leão seems fit enough to make minutes on Wednesday during the first leg with Internazionalei in the semi-finals of the Champions League. AC Milan coach expressed that expectation on Saturday after the 2-0 win over Lazio. The Portuguese attacker was already out after ten minutes in the home game. Leão seemed to be bothered by his groin after making a passing movement in the penalty area of the Romans.

“I just saw him and he seemed relaxed,” said Stefano Pioli immediately after the game. “Muscle problems should be looked at a day after the game, but from what he told me, I think it’s nothing serious. He said he stopped in time. We’ll see how he wakes up tomorrow, but he put us rest assured.”

Leão is invaluable to coach Stefano Pioli’s team this season. The winger has so far scored 13 goals and as many assists in 43 appearances for Milan. In the tenth minute, immediately after a passing movement, Leão felt that things were not going well and had himself taken care of on the sidelines.

The eighteen-time international then decided to try again and returned to the field, before he indicated less than a minute later that he could not continue. He was replaced by Alexis Saelemaekers. More than five minutes later, Ismaël Bennacer accounted for the opening goal on behalf of the home team. Milan eventually won 2-0 thanks to a goal from Theo Hernández.

Leão had to stop the fight after twelve minutes.
