Eran Zahavi could opt for a return to Maccabi Tel Aviv next summer. The 34-year-old striker is in possession of an expiring contract with PSV and the necessary clubs are interested in recruiting him transfer-free in six months. The Israeli ONE suggests that next Thursday’s match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and PSV may play a decisive role in Zahavi’s choice.

Maccabi Tel Aviv and PSV will decide on Thursday in the Bloomfield Stadium which of the two will advance to the eighth final of the Conference League. “Perhaps 30,000 people can persuade Zahavi to return,” he wrote ONE† The medium writes based on sources close to both Maccabi Tel Aviv and Zahavi that there is a chance that the seventy-time Israeli international will return next summer. Action has already been taken to facilitate a transfer from Zahavi to Maccabi Tel Aviv.

However, it is not yet a foregone conclusion that Zahavi will choose Maccabi Tel Aviv next summer, as he can look forward to several offers. Olympiacos was still concrete in the market for the striker in January, who, however, decided to serve out his contract with PSV. Zahavi is in his second season with PSV. After scoring 11 times last season and providing 3 assists in 25 Eredivisie games, his counter this season stands at 5 goals and 3 assists in 15 matches. In a European context, the counter stands at 4 goals this season, compared to 6 hits last season.

Zahavi said last week in the run-up to the first leg against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the intermediate round of the Conference League that he hopes one day to return to the club, where he scored 122 times in 157 games between 2013 and 2016. “They will understand at Maccabi that I have to do my job as a pro, but I will not cheer if I score. I am too grateful to the club for that. It gave me the opportunity to grow into a top player,” Zahavi, who previously played for Hapoel Tel Aviv, Ramat haSharon, Palermo and Guangzhou R&F, told The Telegraph
