Steven Berghuis has few words for the absolute humiliation of Ajax in the Champions League. After the 1-6 defeat against Napoli, the attacking midfielder appears as the first player of the selection in front of the camera of where he states that he is extremely ‘disappointed and frustrated’.

“My feeling? Disappointed and frustrated,” says Berghuis, who was replaced only twenty minutes before time and was the first Ajax player. “We’ve had good evenings, but now you just get it. We just give those goals away in a childish way and 1-6 is of course way too much. Naples was just better. Our level has to be raised and Napoli has made that clear to us. We just weren’t good enough and Napoli outclassed us.”

“It also makes no sense to compare it with last year,” emphasizes Berghuis. “There is a lot of quality in this group of players and I think we have delivered enough good matches, but it was not possible tonight. It’s hard to say all after such an evening. Napoli just showed tonight: real credits to them. We are still very hungry, but unfortunately this is football too. Now you must be a big boy.”
