A spectacular encounter between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool ended without a winner on Sunday evening. It was 2-2 in London, leaving Liverpool again damaged after eight consecutive victories in official games. The Reds are in second place, three points behind leaders Manchester City. Tottenham is seventh, but still has matches due to the competition due to a corona outbreak.

Liverpool had to do without Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho, who are infected with the corona virus, while Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson were also not there. Alcántara may also have had a positive test, although this is not clear. Jürgen Klopp made a starting point in midfield for nineteen-year-old Tyler Morton, who had only one appearance in the Premier League to his name. Liverpool started the game brightly and created danger with a header from Andy Robertson and a pooper from Trent Alexander-Arnold, but after twelve minutes Tottenham opened the score.

Harry Winks captured the ball in midfield with a sharp tackle, after which the home side was able to attack. Tanguy Ndombele reached Harry Kane, who fired diagonally into the left corner. The pace then continued to kill and Tottenham missed several opportunities to further extend the score. After preparatory work by Kane, Heung-Min Son shot wide; Goalkeeper Alisson Becker used his fingertips to prevent Dele Alli from making it 2-0 from a clear shot. However, Liverpool were not indifferent and even tied the score ten minutes before the break after a hard header from Diogo Jota.

The striker was found in the penalty area by Robertson, who had captured the ball himself from the wing and delivered a measured cross. Shortly before the break, Alexander-Arnold was able to make it 2-1, but Lloris successfully intervened with his feet. Moreover, a push by Emerson Royal against Jota in the penalty area did not result in a penalty for Liverpool, leaving it at 1-1 before half time. The second half started with a dangerous header from Jota and a shot by Kane that was blocked by Alisson. In the second half the entertainment value was again high and again one goal was scored by both sides.

Halfway through the second company, Robertson made it 2-1. After a push from Alexander-Arnold at Alli was not penalized in their own penalty area, Liverpool countered: Salah hit the ball wrong with a header, but Robertson was able to finish from close range. Tottenham were angry because Salah got the ball against his arm, but the goal stayed. A few minutes later it became 2-2: after a tight pass from Ben Davies, Alisson came out of his goal, but he missed the ball completely, allowing Son to finish in an empty goal. Liverpool ended the game with ten men as Robertson was shown a red card for a tackle at Emerson after VAR intervention, but with ten players Liverpool held on.
