Internazionale and Real Madrid did not make a mistake in the Champions League on Tuesday evening. I Nerazzurri were too strong for stunt team Sheriff Tiraspol, which did score but went down due to Stefan de Vrij, among others: 3-1. The Madrilenians were supreme in the second company in particular and dealt mercilessly with Shakthar Donetsk: 0-4. Even after the third round, Sheriff remains the leader in Group D with six points. Real Madrid follows in second place with an equal number of points but a less mutual result, while Inter (four points) and Shakthar complete the group.

Internazionale – Sheriff Tiraspol 3-1
Moldovan Champions League sensation Sheriff Tiraspol, who already scored six points from the first two games and even beat Real Madrid in their own Santiago Bernabeu, first ran into problems when Denzel Dumfries countered goalkeeper Dumitru in the fifteenth minute. Celeadnic showed up. However, the closing post managed to intercept the ball just before the Dutchman, who started at Inter as Stefan de Vrij in the base, could become dangerous. About a quarter of an hour later it was hit. A corner from Federico Dimarco was head-long by Arturo Vidal and striker Edin Dzeko suddenly took the ball with the left: 1-0. It was the absolute highlight of a first half that contained little else controversial.

Sheriff had no intention of letting the lead falter, however, and tied the score seven minutes after the break. Sébastien Thill, maker of the winning goal in Bernabéu, was allowed to prepare for a free kick and curled beautifully in the right corner. The visitors could not enjoy this for long: Vidal got the ball in the course of Dzeko in the 58th minute and tapped it past Celeadnic. Moments later, a Dutch get-together ensured that the margin was widened. The ball landed on De Vrij’s right foot through Dumfries’ head, and the visitors’ resistance was broken. The 4-1 remained closer than the 3-2 until the final whistle.

Shakhtar Donetsk – Real Madrid 0-5
The Ukrainians, who started without the long-term injured Lassina Traoré, were behind the scenes from the first whistle. The first chance of the match was noted in the third minute of play, when Karim Benzema sought the corner on a pass from Vinícius Júnior, but shot just wide. Three minutes later, the next shot for goal followed. This time Vinicius struck from close range, but he ran into goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin. Although Shakhtar came into the game better afterwards, Real Madrid took the lead. A long ball from the right was completely misjudged by Sergiy Kryvtsov, who very unhappily passed his own goalkeeper: 0-1. In the second act, Trubin would be outwitted four more times.

Real Madrid doubled the advantage in the sixth minute after the break. After a nice capture of the ball by Benzema, Luka Modric was brought into position. The midfielder served Vinícius with a perfect through ball, after which the latter finished cool-blooded: 0-2. The Brazilian also made it 0-3 five minutes later. This time, Benzema acted as declarant before Vinícius rounded off with a placed shot. The fourth goal was scored by Rodrygo. After beautiful combination football, outstanding Vinícius gave the last pass to his compatriot, who finished from a distance. The final chord was played in injury time by Benzema, who put the 0-5 final score on the scoreboard.
