Six thousand Manchester City fans can travel to Porto free of charge for the Champions League final on Saturday 29 May at the Estádio do Dragão. Sheik Mansour has announced on the club website that he will pay the travel costs of all supporters.

UEFA recently announced that the final has been moved from Istanbul to Porto due to the corona crisis. Manchester City supporters who have secured a ticket to the final against Chelsea can now go to Portugal at the expense of the club owner. However, they must meet a number of conditions. For example, 24 hours after the final they have to be back in England and they stay in a bubble in Porto. In addition, they must be tested for the corona virus.

In a statement on the club website, Manchester City makes it clear that the gesture is being made to support fans financially, following the consequences of the corona crisis. “Sheikh Mansour knows how the pandemic affected the supporters and led to an increase in travel costs,” he said on the way to the first place in the finals in club history. “Sheik Mansour tries in this way to remove the main financial barrier for the fans attending the final.”

“Pep and his team have had a special season. Reaching the Champions League final after a very challenging year is a historic moment for the club. It is therefore extremely important that as many fans as possible get the opportunity to attend this special match. Especially those who have supported Manchester City for so many years, through good times and bad, ”Mansour said.
