Shane Kluivert has been included in the final selection of the Dutch Under 16. The only fifteen-year-old attacker and son of Patrick Kluivert will play two friendly matches with the Dutch national team in October against his peers in Italy. The international match will take place in Florence on October 11 and in Pisa on October 13. Kluivert was given the opportunity to prove himself at the beginning of September during a two-day training internship at the KNVB and has therefore done so. KNVB coach Alexander Palland has called up a total of 23 players for the friendly internationals.

The Barcelona youth player exchanged the youth academy of Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017 for La Masia. Kluivert said last week in conversation with the youth news even that it took a lot of getting used to moving. “In the beginning, of course, you have to get used to the culture and the new language. I speak Spanish, Catalan, English and Dutch.” In addition to his father Patrick, (step)brothers Justin (Valencia, ed.) and Ruben (FC Utrecht, ed.) are also professional football players. Shane likes that he is the youngest in the family.

“I can learn a lot from them because of that. My father is the big boss of the family. If I can improve something, he takes me aside for a while and then we talk about it. I think it’s great that he does that. Can I be better than my father? I hope so,” said the youth player. In addition to the son of Patrick Kluivert, the son of Riga Mustapha, who played for Vitesse, Levante and Bolton during his career, is also included in the final selection of the the Dutch U16. Isaiah Mustapha plays in the youth academy of Vitesse.
