Sergio Ramos has informed his Real Madrid teammates that he will make the switch to Paris Saint-Germain Cadena COPE to report. The 35-year-old center defender is in possession of an expiring contract with Real Madrid and can therefore be picked up on a free transfer this summer. The necessary clubs have been named as candidates for Ramos in the past week, but according to the latest reports from Spain, he will make the switch to Paris.

Ramos’ name has long been linked to PSG, which previously strengthened itself with Georginio Wijnaldum and is also about to pick up Gianluigi Donnarumma on a free transfer. From Spain, Italy and England, the defender was also linked to Manchester City, Manchester United, Sevilla, AC Milan and AS Roma in the past week. As it looks now, those clubs seem to be grabbing next to Ramos. Cadena COPE reports that Ramos has informed his former teammates that he will make the switch to PSG. Les Parisiens will have to dig deep into their pockets to get Spain’s 180-fold ‘free’.

Spanish journalist Josep Pedrerol reported that Ramos wants to sign a two-year contract with his new club, with a net annual salary of fifteen million euros. He also demanded a signing bonus of twenty million euros from the club that will pick him up on a free transfer. He did not reach an agreement on a new contract with Real Madrid. Ramos only received a contract proposal from Real Madrid until next summer, with a salary reduction of ten percent. The veteran only agreed to the financial sacrifice if he could sign for two years, but chairman Florentino Perez did not want to cooperate.

“I just wanted to continue here. Real offered me a contract for one year in recent months, with a salary reduction. However, money was never an issue and the chairman (Florentino Pérez, ed.) knows that too. It was about the contract. They made me an offer for one year, while I wanted to sign up for two more years. I wanted certainty for my family,” Ramos clarified at a press conference on Thursday. “During the last conversation I said I agreed with the offer, but then I was told that the offer had been withdrawn.”

Ramos won everything there was to win in 16 years with Real Madrid: five league titles, four times the Spanish Super Cup, two times the Copa del Rey, three times the European Super Cup, four times the Champions League and four times the World Cup for club teams. The defender, who captained los Merengues since 2015/16, has played a total of 671 games in all competitions for Real Madrid. He was good for no less than 101 goals. He was also responsible for 39 other hits.
