Sébastien Haller provided Ajax’s only goal against FC Twente (1-1) on Sunday, but there are still doubts among the supporters about his sporting contribution. The striker, who has scored eleven goals in his last fifteen competition matches, reacts at the press conference after the game to the whistle that sounded from the supporters of Ajax. He says that he partly accepts and understands the criticism of his own functioning.

“They are supporters”, indicates the record purchase of 22.5 million euros. “They rightly have certain expectations, just like the trainer and we have ourselves. Sometimes they just want to express themselves: they want to show that they are not happy or that they are happy. It is a relationship that should be as healthy as possible. Today was not the best match of Ajax. It is normal to hear some whistling.” Haller admits that ‘many things’ need to be improved in Ajax’s game. “Don’t just score goals, because the problem is bigger.”

Sébastien Haller understands criticism and whistle concerts Ajax fans: “It’s part of it”

“Everyone in this team can score goals. The combinations with each other might be faster. Then we can score more,” said Haller. “I don’t follow social media very much, but I do hear some things. Everyone knows the story of ‘the number 9’ at Ajax. When I came, I knew I would be confronted with that. There are few strikers who can do it better do the strikers that Ajax has had in the past. All you can do is give the maximum and do your best to succeed and take as many prizes as possible. You have to put everything else aside.”
