SC Heerenveen confirms the arrival of Pawel Bochniewicz via official channels. The 24-year-old defender comes over from Górnik Zabrze and is the successor to Sven Botman, who was appointed to Ajax last season. Bochniewicz has signed a contract in Friesland that binds him until mid-2024.

Heerenveen pays an unknown transfer fee for Bochniewicz, who was stuck with his employer Górnik Zabre for another year. The Polish man coverer was admitted to Reggina’s youth academy at a young age. At the Italian club, Bochniewicz deserves a transfer to Udinese, but he never manages to break through in the main force there. He has been playing for Górnik since 2018, who took him over after a loan spell. Bochniewicz was part of the selection of the Polish national team this month, also during the match against the Netherlands (lost 1-0), and has played two international matches so far.

Technical manager Gerry Hamstra is pleased with the recording of Bochniewicz. “It is known that we were looking for reinforcements in the back, for a central defender who is there immediately”, says Hamstra in the press release of Heerenveen. “Pawel is a tall, strong defender who dares to play football and bring leadership qualities. With Pawel we bring in an experienced player who has played many matches at the highest level and was recently called up to the Polish national team. “

Heerenveen is crucial in the transfer market. The Frisians also hosted Oliver Batista Meier earlier on Thursday, who is being hired from Bayern Munich. Furthermore, the Eredivisionis is working on the arrival of Jan Paul van Hecke. The defender was recently taken over by Brighton & Hove Albion from NAC Breda and will probably be loaned directly to Heerenveen.
