Ryan Flamingo definitely makes the switch to Sassuolo. Both the Italian club and Almere City FC reported on Wednesday that the purchase option has been lifted in the lease of the eighteen-year-old defender. Flamingo is leaving “thanks to a pre-determined transfer fee to Italy”, the club from the Kitchen Champion Division said in the press release. The young mandekker’s contract with Sassuolo runs until the summer of 2025.

Flamingo signed his first professional contract with Almere City in 2019, where his contract ran until next summer. In February, the defender already made the move to Sassuolo on a rental basis, where he joined the Under 19 team. He had a starting place in the youth team 23 times in recent months. His debut in the main squad of the Italians is still pending. Until his interim departure for Serie A, Flamingo was part of Almere City Under-21, which is led by Hedwiges Maduro.

“We are extremely proud that a player from our own youth academy is making this great step at such a young age. Hopefully his efforts will soon result in a nice step towards Serie A. We wish Ryan every success in his further development,” says technical manager Teun Jacobs announced on Wednesday in a response to the Almere City club site, where Flamingo did not make any playing minutes in the first team.
